I'm going to share some of the fresh talent I'm currently admiring and amazed by, so that when they're out shooting big campaigns and stories across the world, we can say I told you they were special!"So have a look at these wonderful artists, this feature is the first in the series, check out the previous one here.~GARETHHHGareth is part of a fresh wave of talent hailing from Wales but working a lot in London. Hi, I'm Tim! I've been drawing for most of my life and took up painting around the age eighteen. Abstract is the general style most of my works fit into, mainly because I like to watch people try to figure out what they mean. What is it that attracts you to Traditional Art?I love the smell and feel of the paint. The way bristles of a paint brush move under different pressures, tablet pens don't have that feeling. I like the way textures are real and cast shadows(if heavily textured) , which you don't get with di

Project Educate: Being a People PersonSo you've got the equipment, you've got the top notch camera, the lighting, the studio, the backdrop and even the perfect weather - everything you need for a portrait photography shoot right? Wrong. The key behind all photographs that contain a living and breathing subject is to have the natural look. Just like the key to a conceptual shot is having the idea, the key to portraiture photography is having the eye. Co-operative subjects help too!I have especially found in the past, that people develop a pained and strained look on their face when the camera is pointed in their direction. Interestingly enough, it happens more often at Weddings. The bride and groom quite often develop the look that they might have when they've just finished writing out the cheque for me to photograph their big day...Then, quite suddenly one day, I got it. It was when a stunning bridesmaid at a wedding lifted her hands in front of her face and squealed when I clicked the camera in her
Thoughts about Photography - part 3In here you will find a few examples of works specific to different types of Photography, followed by various artists' opinion about what they think it's most important regarding their art and how to make it. You will come to see that while on some types of Photography many artists have similar opinions, on others their thoughts differ a lot, so read them all carefully and enjoy the article! - `lintu47Darkroom~pestilence says: "Photography, combined from the Greek words, Φώτο - γράφω, writing with light, as the above sentence suggests the pure essence of photography is light, without light there can be no photography. I have been asked many times what are the details of a good capture, what are the elements that compose a good pictur

I grew up loving comic books and album covers, and that's the art that's had the biggest influence on me. I went to art school, and pursued work as an illustrator as soon as I graduated; I didn't start doing personal work for myself until eight years after I graduated, and I'm still doing that. My style of art is largely about trying to visualize psychological and spiritual states in a way that makes them emotionally compelling. What is it that attracts you to Traditional Art?I work digitally in my job as a graphic

PE: The Importance of Community SupportFrom the Desk of =RequiemachinaThe Importance of Community Support: What is a Community? When one thinks of a community, some words might come into play...maybe these: caring, supportive, familiarity, safe, helpful, united to promote a common interest or idea....that stuff. But, a community does not fit into a nice neat package. We use the word a lot, but it is important to ask more seriously what the term "community" is. A community is a sort of "construct"; We can't see a community, nor touch it, or directly experience it. Just like a snowflake, no two communities are exactly alike. They may share the same ideals, but the personal experiences will always be different. A community is not only the people in it-- but what was already established long ago, and which would continue to grow through the ages. Take DeviantART for example. This site I believe when it first started up, wasn't as big as it is now. But due to
