Everyday we're CV'ingAs a Community Volunteer - I do as much or as little within the community that I feel comfortable doing. We're not pressured to do this and that, we don't even have to give a Daily Deviation every day, we choose how we promote our selected galleries/chats and forums and we're not fixed to any specific rule on how much or how little we do. But I do believe that it's important to share with you just what the community volunteers do and why we do it. More importantly it's so easy to get lost on this site full of many people - and miss out on the awesome that's going on. So I'm going to share with you exactly what the latest awesome is... Project Educate Almost every week since October last year the Community Volunteers have been working hard both independently and as part of small teams to bring You Project Educate.Project Educate is about bringing forward art forms whether they are popular or overlooked and giving

Over the years there have been categories that have been "removed", merged, or changed and there are back-end changes that need to be done to fully remove them from the tree. This part will not affect you, and if everything goes properly, you won't even notice it The second part of this will be ensuring that the categories are all accepting the correct file-types. Manga/Anime Spotlight: JyinxeManga/Anime Spotlight: *JyinxeManga/Anime Spotlight is a weekly feature that highlights the different artists across the deviantART's Manga/Anime community, and is a portal to get to know a bit more about them and their works. This week's feature is *Jyinxe1.) To start off, what is your favorite medium and tools to use?My favourite medium is traditional art, but I would love to learn to colour on the computer properly one day (I'm not a very patient person). I tend to use Prisma colour pencil crayons the most to colour, trading them out once in a while for Crayola. I use Staedtler pigment liners for my lineart (usually .1 or .3) and gelly roll pens for shine.2.) When you draw, do you plan everything out first, or do you just see where the drawing takes you?I try to plan everything out before hand because I like to have an idea of what I'm doing. The picture doesn't always end up the way I planned

This week's feature is `azarath1.) To start off, what is your favorite medium and tools to use?Usually I start everything with a pencil sketch, then take it into Deleter Comic Works, Photoshop, or my favorite, Illustrator. I also love using Copic markers, but they get very costly.2.) When you draw, do you plan everything out first, or do you just see where the drawing takes you?I have an idea in mind, but usually it's more of a case of "let's see what my skill level will actually allow me to do." 3.) On average, how long do you spend on a drawing?I depends on what I'm doing. Mostly nowadays I just doodle. A markered drawing would

What IS Vexel Art Anyway? So, hello then I am the newly appointed Community Volunteer for the Vexel gallery, taking over from the ever-wonderful `jussta! I am here to provide you with support and entertainment, and to be a bridge between you and the deviantART $taff You will be excited to know that I already have a contest in the planning for next year, but in the mean time while I find my feet in the volunteer world, I can tell you that #vexelove has both a contest and a collab you can take part in at the moment, and you can find the details here: http://fav.me/d5jxxjz And, my dear vexel artists, take a look at #TheVexelGroup, your vexel community hub of info and goings-on, also with a gallery you can submit to So... What IS Vexel Art anyway?I always thought the easiest way to describe it was by calling it digital cut paper. When you make a traditional cut paper piece, you are using shapes of paper all built up to create an image - vexel is the same so

PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your workHello all! Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation. Why is Presentation important?Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be
What Are Original Characters? What are original characters? Hello everyone! Today we are going to go over the concept of "What is an original character" and this is actually part one of a two part news article series. The second article will be released at a later date. What do original characters have to do with the Manga/Anime gallery here on deviantART? Well just about everything. The Manga/Anime gallery is designed for original characters only, and by original, I mean original. Here is an example of what I mean...Drawings of characters submitted into the Manga/Anime gallery can only be your ownThe drawings of characters need to be from your own universe. If the character you are drawing is placed into another "existing universe" such as Pokemon or Naruto, they do not belong in Manga/Anime, instead they belong in fanart.Your own character, your own world, your own creation, then it can go into the Manga/Anime galleryIf anyone is still confused by that, I can show you some visuals using my character
